Maines Sales were over $3B for 2011.

  - Complete Configuration & Customization in SAP ECC6.0 & Vertex O Series version 6.0 on Windows Servers. Work included configuration of AR/SD and FI/CO Modules, and Customization of the Taxability Manager in O Series to automate tax categories like food and paper products for the 32 states where Maines does business. Maines has 14 companies that needed configuration.

  - The project also included ABAP development in SAP and creation of Tax Assist module configuration to automate tax rules & exceptions in the Taxability Manager for food & beverage, chemicals.

  - Performed debugging through turning on logs in the RFC call, Function call, the Sic.log and Web Services property changes. Also debugging by stepping through the ABAP programs with stops placed in the code.

  - Installed and configured the Tax Returns Module Release 9. Performed initial setup of the company information and setup of tax returns. Tested with data feeds from Vertex O and Vertex Q.

  - Training of tax department and documentation of Vertex Setup, SAP Setup in SD/AR and FI/CO as it relates to the Vertex System, and Tax Returns.

• Task Task: Bobby MacLean had the role of Vertex Project Lead on the Oracle Financials 11i Project. Mastec, a 2 billion dollar company, has grown through acquisition and has many divisions that are run indepently, including Energy Group, Power Partners, Central Office, USG and Essential Services. Mastec’s Vertex System needed to be upgraded and completely redesigned due to the complexity of the original system, and transition of personel in the tax department. -Enhanced and redesigned the API’s for both the Project Accounting/Accounts Receivable and the Accounts Payable Interfaces to Vertex. This included PL/SQL enhancements and customizations using DFF’s. -Performed the Upgrade to the latest version of Vertex in Oracle, including database creation, installation and creation of the database objects, rate, geocode and TDM database migrations. -Completely redesigned the Vertex Tax Decision Maker (TDM) Database that contains the Division, Project, Jurisdiction, Customer/Vendor tax exceptions and simplified it from over 1 million records down to a few thousand (through analysis, Product Hierarchy Simplification, Company/Division simplification and data cleansing). Customizations to the API’s was required for this effort. The TDM Database had become unmanageable and was the source of most of their tax problems for all of their divisions.
